OUR VISION |
To be a vibrant retail and service business centre that recognizes its unique physical and financial position – easy access to the motorway, industrial sectors and the greater Auckland area, plenty of free parking and lower rental prices for business premises. |
OUR MISSION |
To conserve, promote and advance the interest of members – landlords, business owners and managers. |
OUR PURPOSE |
To increase the value of the properties and the businesses that fund the Association through the special Mainstreet Rates levy. |
ACTIONS
Goal 1: An appealing retail and business service area
IMAGE
. Clean Streets - monitor and liaise with Auckland City as required
. To encourage shops to look after rubbish around and behind their businesses.
. To encourage attractive shop front signage - develop standards that conform to current bylaws but help facilitate solutions in problem areas.
. To encourage standardization of shop opening hours - shopping week is Wed - Sunday with biggest turn over Sat/Sunday
. To maintain contract for Graffiti removal services
. Building and shop appearances - encourage building owners to repair and maintain buildings - to encourage owners, managers to repair and maintain buildings - to encourage owners, managers to understand and implement good visual merchandizing techniques.
PARKING
· Ease of Parking – to ensure that Auckland City redevelopments do not impact on the number of existing car parks
· Lobby for good parking and public facility signage.
· To reinforce the message that the car park spaces are for customers and not businesses.
SECURITY
· Safe Environment – continue with Security Guard/Ambassador
. Review night patrols due to greater use of Panmure at night by increasing number of restaurants.
. Investigate a relationship with the Maori Wardens
. Encourage a closer relationship with the local Community Constable
. Encourage businesses to take a greater responsibility for their own business security.
Goal 2: A greater use of local businesses by the wider community and local business community
EVENTS
· Two main events - King of the Mountain and Christmas Parade
· Bite Sized Promotions linked to occasions – e.g. Easter Bunny, Go All Blacks, Panmure’s Birthday, Historic Society – dressed up for Heritage Festival Week, Cultural Festivals (celebrate diversity), Valentines Day, Mother’s Day etc simple fun activity – might be just giving out sweets to tie in with occasion. What other things are going on in the community that the Business Association join in with.
· Independent Activities e.g. Market Day/Food Week Promo (aim for a Thursday). What can we do to support and encourage growth of the Sunday Market?
PROMOTION
· Community Awareness of available goods and services
. Link in with the bigger Tamaki Community Directory instead of publishing a PPBA Business Directory.
. Up grade website and list business contact details on that.
. Create a ‘Where to Park Map’ and list ‘what else is available in Panmure’.
· Paid advertising features in Community Newspapers – ‘who’s who in Panmure’, ‘what’s happening in Panmure’?
· Create (in the office) a standard Gift Voucher to be used in Promotions
Goal 3: Support Business Growth
· To welcome new businesses into Panmure and help promote their move to Panmure
· Promote benefits of locating your business in Panmure – free parking, accessibility to the wider Auckland area etc.
· Networking Business to business.
· Foster investment in Panmure by new retail and services businesses – give support when needed.
Goal 4: Cultivate a positive profile of Panmure amongst the residents and wider community
· Foster business and local community understanding the benefits of the Business Association and Mainstreet Programme.
· Encourage sense of pride – good things go on in our business and local communities.
· Use major events to promote the positive aspects of Panmure.
· Monitor media to encourage positive comments about Panmure in any news, general item or letters to the editor.
· Encourage store owners/managers to maintain high standards of cleanliness and store appeal.
· Regular communication to local residents – through special PPB community newsletters/or community features in local media.
· To include the greater Panmure Industrial area – inform them of what is going on in Panmure to encourage Queens Rd to be the centre or heart.
· Encourage Industrial businesses for sponsorship on events.
· Expand newsletter mailing list to include influential people.
Goal 5: Good Governance
· Conform to PPBA Articles of Association, published Mainstreet guidelines and relevant ACC Bylaws.
· Operated within the guidelines set and under instructions from the PPBA Board
· Maintain relationship established with relevant Auckland City Officers and Tamaki Community Board.
· Review annually – budget, focus and staff performance.
